The Falls

A Drabble
By Stephanie Linz-Gould

Sam struggled to climb the boulder. She was dirty, tired and soggy from this creek hike, but couldn't let the Doctor know how exhausted she felt.

His cheerful voice called back to her. "Come on, Sam. Just a few more metres."

She slipped, scraping her knee. "Oh, bloody hell!"

Suddenly, strong hands took hold of hers from above. "Here, let me help."

As the Doctor pulled her up, a protest died on her tongue. The falls were there, just as he had said. His voice tickled her ear. "Well, what do you think?"

She leaned against him, rejuvenated. "Worth it."
